We have increased the number of hectares of our FSC®-certified forests.

In 2024, we have continued to increase the number of hectares of our FSC®-certified forests. Our company’s journey towards an increasingly green and ecological future began a few years ago, accompanied by the intervention and guidance of our agronomist, Andrea Martinez.

In 2021, we completed the first audit to obtain Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Forest Management (FM) certification ICILA-FM/COC-004337, becoming the first company to obtain certification for a private forest, the “Lu Canniscioni” cork forest in the Baldu area of Tempio Pausania, which covers 99.30 hectares.

Thanks to a second audit, two more Sardinian forests were certified: the cork oak forest of “Montesu”, in the Tempio Pausania area, covering 24.3 hectares, and the cork oak forest of “Monti di la Jesgia”, in the Calangianus area, covering 45.39 hectares.

It was not until June 2024 that we were able to increase the area of certified forests even further, this time obtaining certification for the Bagnolo cork oak forest, one of the forests we own in Tuscany. It is located in Campo Orlandi and covers a total area of 168.91 hectares.

The total area of FSC®-certified cork oak forests increased to 337.97 hectares after the last audit: not a point of arrival, but an incentive to do even better and a significant reservoir from which to draw for the production of certified cork stoppers.

Moreover, following the principle of sustainable forest management means approving a long-term commitment to satisfying the needs of the present generation without compromising those of the future ones, guaranteeing the permanence of all forest values.’
