After decades of collaboration with Sugherificio Molinas, Scarbolo, a Friulian winery with a strong vocation for the production of Pinot Grigio, has once again sealed a commitment to quality with our cork producer by joining the innovative Pondus® project based on the selection of cork weights.
Originally, "Molinas' cork was reserved for a small part of the production, mainly for red wines", says Lara Scarbolo, owner of the winery, recalling the company's origins with her father Valter. Only recently, after important events and changes in the company's management introduced by the new generation, the winery has extended the use of Molinas cork to all its wines, from white to red, except for one wine that is released 9 months after the harvest.
Among the reasons for this renewed trust and collaboration with Sugherificio Molinas as an oenological partner, are "the quality of the material supplied, the constant support, and the real attention to our needs and doubts", continues Lara Scarbolo.
Moreover, cork has never been doubted by Scarbolo, who considers it the ideal choice from both a technical and sustainability point of view. "Wine is a living thing, so it is essential that it continues to 'live' over time" explains Scarbolo, who chose the one-piece Molinas cork precisely because of his strong desire to "work with elements that undergo as little intervention as possible once they are extracted from their source of origin".
Pondus® allows the winery to add one more step in the process of controlling the production chain, in particular because of the desire to ensure that "every single bottle reaches the final consumer at exactly the stage of development we have chosen", precisely because of the homogeneity between bottles that the Pondus® project itself guarantees, leaving no element to chance: from the land to the winery to the distribution.
